Coptic
            23 X 21cm (9 X 8in)     1978
tapestry and plain weave; wool and linen, linen warp,
            mounted on frame
This small work led to several others in which tapestry is combined with linen plain weave (the background image of this page is another example). It was woven at a workshop in Greece after seeing antique examples of the combined techniques in a museum. The image is an invented axis mundi affair mimicking tradional Coptic iconography.
